Tram tender won by Skanska

Skanska has been submitted the best offer for a tender procedure had issued by Tramwaje Śląskie, a management body of the tram infrastructure in the agglomeration. Skanska will rebuild a 3,35 kilometers double track way, contact lines and platforms in two locations in Katowice.

The gross worth of the investment, including works on a 570 meters long track way in Chorzów, will amount to gross PLN 21,2 million. The company also proposed the maximum guarantee period – 120 months. Under the contract, Skanska will rebuild the Roundabout – “Słoneczna Pętla” line (0,85 km) and the section between Silesian Stadium and “Wesołe Miasteczko” (2,5 km) along the “Tysiąclecia” housing estate.

The company will have finish the works within 23 months from the contract signing date.

The rebuild is part of tram lines modernization in the Katowice agglomeration. It is planned to refit about 46 kilometers of tram lines in six cities (15% of the entire tram line system in the agglomeration), purchasing of 30 new trams and modernization of 75 old vehicles of the “105N” type for gross PLN 801 million. The amount will be subsidized by the EU funds.
