The University of Economics in Katowice has announced to launch collaborative studies with IBM. Graduates will be hired in the Global Services Delivery Center which was opened by the IT giant in Katowice last year.
The center has been operating in the City since September 2013. IBM plans to hire there even two thousand people. Several hundred specialists have been already employed in the GSDC. According to the estimation of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ), the IBM project in Katowice is worth approximately EUR 6,5 million.
Now the center manpower will be trained at the university to meet the requirements of job positions offered by the company. The studies will be inaugurated in October this year. The custom-made teaching programme was prepared in cooperation with IBM. Students will get familiar with server, database, network and application management services, financial support for global customers of the company and office work.
The new specialization will be opened within the Information Technology and Communication department. The university expects about several hundred graduates at the beginning and even a few thousand in the years to come.
