View from Cannes

From 12th to 15th of March, the City Hall of Katowice has been participating in the MIPIM real estate fairs in Cannes together with the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and the Marshal Office of the Silesian Voivodeship.

This international real estate show for professionals gathered over 19 thousand visitors, chairmen and journalists from all over the globe. It was also a chance for Katowice to pay new investors attention or to remind about unfinished businesses.

The Katowice representatives, leaded by the mayor Piotr Uszok, talked to the owner of the former Silesia Hotel during the event. The abandoned building is located close to the Market Sq., in the area of the undergoing City Center redevelopment. Rüdiger Dany, chairman of the board of ECE Projektmanagement Poland, assured that the company is still interested in the project and claims it is willing to invest in Katowice. The City Hall reported that ECE considers to buy surrounding parcels of land which border upon the hotel, what would make possible to conduct the investment on a wider scale.

According to the City Hall’s press office, the delegation of Katowice have also spoken to, among others, representatives of such companies as Warimpex, Echo Investment, Skanska Property, Frenger International, GTC, Cityworld, ARUP, Ghelamco, Opal Maksimum, CTP, Hochtief, Colliers, Vantage Development.
