Wizz Air welcomes 9-millionth passenger at Katowice Airport

Katowice International Airport (KTW) and the largest low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe are celebrating as figures show 9 million passengers have flown from Katowice with Wizz Air since 19th of May 2004.

The 9 million passengers is the highest score of all Polish airports where Wizz Air is present. It is currently the biggest airline operating from Katowice. Since 2004, it has flown 9 million passengers out of 17 million handled at the airport. Nowadays, four out of thirty-nine Airbus A320 aircrafts are based at KTW. There are 16 connections between Katowice and cities in 13 countries of Europe offered by Wizz Air.

In total, the airline currently offers flights on over 250 routes in Europe and has 16 operating bases in the Central and Eastern Europe region.

In the middle of September this year, Ryanair – the low-cost airline based in Dublin – handled its one millionth passenger at Katowice International Airport, since starting operations at KTW in 2007.
